Roots didn’t thrive when they grew alone. The trees need one another.
— Suzanne Simard
If we surrendered to earth’s intelligence we could rise up rooted, like trees.
— Rainer Maria Rilke

Root To Root Community is inspired by the intelligence of a forest.

Trees of different species support each other, as well as other surrounding plants, though an underground fungal system called a mycorrhizal network. In these networks, a root-like structure called mycelium attaches to the roots of other plants and trees to transfer water, nutrients and even chemical signals to warn against danger. This system works to keep the forest nourished and protected.

Trees and fungi recognize that collaboration increases their chance of survival. They work together root to root, despite differences, to find balance and provide a healthy environment for the seedlings of future generations.

We are relational beings but modern times have left us feeling isolated and separated from one another, our true nature and from nature itself.

Root To Root Community was created with the intention to bring people together to be nourished in connection, just like our plant and fungi kin. This community is about having fun, finding inspiration, creating, learning and brainstorming on how to make the local community and the world at large a safer place for all species.

Root To Root believes in order to accomplish that we need to remember the magic of the natural world and the power in many versus few. We need to remember soul.

What will grow within this space? What can be accomplished for the whole when we come together?

Root To Root will hold workshops, gatherings and educational classes with a wide range of topics and ideas. All classes and workshops have one theme in mind: connection. connection to self, to each other, to creation and to nature.

Root to Root was imagined by Kenna Stronach through her own yearning for community and desire to show others the power of connecting to the natural world. A year spent as a wildlife rehabber in Texas in 2014 followed by a spontaneous move to Northern California in 2016 changed the entire trajectory of her life. Kenna began to uncover her inner wisdom after following a strong urge to create a pollinator garden. What followed was a roaring passion and sudden calling to help Earth. Through observation of her garden she saw the power of being a steward to the land along with the responsibility it holds. She witnessed the threads of connection through every living thing that visited and lived within her garden and recognized it mirroring within herself.

Kenna understands modern times have brought with it a tragic disconnection. We are relational beings who have forgotten the importance of community. We are humans who are lacking consistent access to the natural world.

We all have a need for belonging.

We need new systems based on reciprocity, togetherness, openness, and love. We need more spaces free of screens that provide activities to temporarily remove ourselves from the chaos and loudness of the world. We need more spaces where we can remember our grounded roots as humans that were once more in tune with the natural rythyms and cycles of the Earth and with the our senses.

We need to remember that despite our differences, at our core, we are all the same.

Kenna envisions a gathering of friends who learn, evolve, create and sow the seeds of a brighter tomorrow.
